Growing Guide to Narcissi (Daffodils)
Narcissi (daffodils) are among the most cherished spring-flowering bulbs. At Mr Middleton Garden Shop, we’re delighted to offer an extensive range, with varieties across the RHS’s 13 official divisions. Their versatility, reliability, and dazzling variety make them perfect for borders, containers, naturalised plantings, and cutting gardens.
Planting & Growing
- Planting time: September–November
- Depth: 2–3 times the height of the bulb
- Spacing: 8–15 cm (3–6 in) apart
- Soil: Fertile, well-drained soil. Avoid waterlogging
- Position: Full sun or dappled shade – excellent beneath deciduous trees
- Aftercare: Allow foliage to die back naturally for 6–8 weeks; deadhead faded flowers to strengthen bulbs
