Romantic double white flowers for an unforgettable early summer display
Paeonia ‘Bridal Shower’ is a wonderfully romantic herbaceous peony, producing generous, fully double flowers in beautiful shades of creamy white.
The large blooms are packed with softly ruffled petals, creating the sumptuous appearance that makes peonies so irresistible. Opening in late spring and early summer above handsome green foliage, they bring elegance and brightness to borders just as the summer garden begins to gather momentum.
As its name suggests, ‘Bridal Shower’ is particularly attractive for cutting and makes an exquisite choice for floral arrangements, wedding flowers and summer bouquets.
In the garden it is an easy companion for roses and traditional cottage-garden perennials. Once established, plants become increasingly impressive and can remain productive for many years.
Why We Chose It
For pure romance, ‘Bridal Shower’ is difficult to beat. The combination of large white flowers, beautifully ruffled petals and excellent cutting potential makes this an outstanding garden peony.
Growing Paeonia ‘Bridal Shower’
Position: Full sun or light shade
Soil: Fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil
Height: Approx. 80–90 cm
Spread: Approx. 75–90 cm
Flowering: May–June
Hardiness: Fully hardy
Suitable for cutting: Excellent
Choose an open position with plenty of light. Plant the crown shallowly so that the buds are only just below soil level. Planting too deeply can result in plenty of foliage but few flowers.
Peonies dislike being repeatedly moved, so choose a position where your plant can remain and mature.
Garden Designer’s Tip
Plant several ‘Bridal Shower’ together to create a spectacular drift of white. For a romantic combination, surround them with pale pink roses, foxgloves and hardy geraniums.
