Narcissus ‘Finland’ is an attractive large-cupped daffodil that brings a lighter, more refined colour combination to large spring planting schemes.

Its attractive blooms feature white petals surrounding a contrasting yellow cup, creating a bright, fresh effect in borders and naturalised areas. When planted in quantity, the white petals help illuminate darker parts of the garden while the yellow centres retain that unmistakable daffodil character.

Finland is particularly effective planted through grass, along woodland margins or in substantial informal groups through large borders.

Why We Chose It

Finland provides valuable colour contrast within our bulk narcissi collection. The combination of white petals and yellow centres gives a much lighter appearance than traditional all-yellow daffodils.

A very useful daffodil for anyone wanting to move beyond an entirely yellow spring display. Finland is fresh, bright and particularly attractive planted in substantial drifts.

Garden Designer’s Tip

Mix Finland with pure yellow daffodils rather than separating the varieties completely. Allowing the white and yellow flowers to mingle creates a more interesting and natural-looking spring display.

Planting & Growing

· Planting period: September–December

· Flowering: Spring

· Soil: Most reasonably well-drained garden soils

· Planting depth: Approximately 10–15cm

· Spacing: Approximately 10–15cm apart

· Naturalising: Excellent

Plant bulbs with the pointed end upwards. Water after planting if conditions are particularly dry.

For large-scale naturalising in grass, lift sections of turf, plant beneath and replace the turf, or use a bulb planter for individual bulbs.

For stronger growth and flowering, apply Mr Middleton Seaweed Feed when planting and again as growth develops in early spring.

After flowering, allow foliage to die down naturally before removing it or mowing naturalised areas.
