Description

Narcissus ‘Magnificence’ is an excellent choice when you want to create a substantial display of traditional spring colour. Strong-growing and dependable, it is particularly well suited to planting in quantity where the bulbs can establish and develop into impressive colonies over the years.

Ideal for lawns, orchards, banks, woodland margins, large borders and landscape planting, Magnificence provides the sort of bold spring display that becomes increasingly impressive as the bulbs naturalise.

Bulk packs make it especially economical for larger gardens and professional planting schemes.

Why We Chose It

We selected Magnificence for its vigour, dependable flowering and suitability for naturalising. It is exactly the type of narcissus that benefits from being planted generously.

Mr Middleton Verdict

A first-rate bulk planting daffodil. Give Magnificence space to establish and leave the bulbs undisturbed – the display can become better with every passing spring.

Garden Designer’s Tip

Don't spread your bulbs too thinly over a very large area. For greater impact, concentrate them into generous irregular drifts, leaving some open spaces between groups. This produces a far more natural and dramatic effect.

Planting & Growing

· Planting period: September–December

· Flowering: Spring

· Flower colour: Golden yellow

· Position: Full sun or partial shade

· Soil: Most reasonably well-drained garden soils

· Planting depth: Approximately 10–15cm

· Spacing: Approximately 10–15cm apart

· Naturalising: Excellent

· Hardiness: Fully hardy

Plant bulbs with the pointed end upwards. Water after planting if conditions are particularly dry.

For large-scale naturalising in grass, lift sections of turf, plant beneath and replace the turf, or use a bulb planter for individual bulbs.

For stronger growth and flowering, apply Mr Middleton Seaweed Feed when planting and again as growth develops in early spring.

After flowering, allow the foliage to remain until it has yellowed and died back naturally. This allows the leaves to replenish the bulb and helps produce a strong display the following year.

Ideal For

Lawns, orchards, large borders, banks, woodland gardens, estates, schools, hotels, golf courses and commercial landscaping.

Irish grown by Mr Middleton – Irish owned Irish gardening specialists since 1974.
