Description

When the objective is to plant a lot of daffodils at an economical price, our Standard Value Daffodils are the answer.

Selected specifically for bulk and landscape planting, these bulbs provide an economical way to bring spring colour to large areas. They are ideal for planting through grass, along drives, on banks, in orchards, around woodland margins and anywhere a substantial display of daffodils is required.

Rather than concentrating on a named variety, this selection is about value, performance and creating maximum impact over a large area.

Once established, the bulbs can be left to naturalise, gradually developing into increasingly impressive colonies.

Why We Chose It

Sometimes you simply need hundreds of good daffodil bulbs at the best possible price. Our Standard Value selection was created for exactly that purpose.

Mr Middleton Verdict

Our choice for maximum spring colour at minimum cost. An excellent option for large gardens, estates, schools and landscape projects where quantity and value matter.

Garden Designer’s Tip

For a professional-looking landscape, don't plant every bulb at identical intervals. Create several large drifts, varying their shape and density. Allow some groups to merge into others to make the planting look established rather than newly planted.

Planting & Growing

· Planting period: September–December

· Flowering: Spring

· Flower colour: Golden yellow

· Position: Full sun or partial shade

· Soil: Most reasonably well-drained garden soils

· Planting depth: Approximately 10–15cm

· Spacing: Approximately 10–15cm apart

· Naturalising: Excellent

· Hardiness: Fully hardy

Plant bulbs with the pointed end upwards. Water after planting if conditions are particularly dry.

For large-scale naturalising in grass, lift sections of turf, plant beneath and replace the turf, or use a bulb planter for individual bulbs.

For stronger growth and flowering, apply Mr Middleton Seaweed Feed when planting and again as growth develops in early spring.

After flowering, allow foliage to yellow naturally before cutting it back. When planted in grass, delay mowing until the foliage has had sufficient time to die down.

Ideal For

Large gardens, lawns, orchards, banks, roadsides, schools, estates, hotels, golf courses, public spaces and commercial landscape projects.

Irish grown by Mr Middleton – Irish owned Irish gardening specialists since 1974.
