Garlic Messidrome is a reliable French softneck garlic, valued for its excellent flavour, good-sized white bulbs and dependable crops. An excellent choice for autumn planting, it establishes before winter and develops strongly as temperatures rise in spring.
Messidrome produces attractive white-skinned bulbs containing a generous number of creamy cloves. The flavour is rich and traditional without being overpowering, making it an excellent all-round garlic for roasting, cooking, sauces and everyday kitchen use.
As a softneck variety, Messidrome also has the advantage of good storage potential after harvesting and drying.
Why We Chose It
A dependable, productive garlic with excellent flavour and storage qualities. Particularly well suited to gardeners looking for a good general-purpose autumn-planted garlic.
Growing Garlic Messidrome
Plant from autumn into early winter in an open, sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Carefully separate the bulb into individual cloves immediately before planting.
Plant each clove approximately 5 cm deep, with the pointed end upwards, spacing them 15 cm apart, with approximately 30 cm between rows.
Garlic benefits from a period of cold weather, which helps the cloves develop into properly divided bulbs. Keep the area free from weeds and water during prolonged dry periods in spring and early summer.
Harvest when the foliage begins to yellow and die back, usually during summer. Lift carefully and allow the bulbs to dry thoroughly before storing.
