Garlic Therador is a high-quality white softneck garlic producing attractive, well-formed bulbs with an excellent flavour. A superb choice for autumn planting, Therador establishes well before winter and develops into strong plants the following spring.
The bulbs have clean white skins and numerous flavoursome cloves. Its balanced garlic flavour makes Therador particularly useful in the kitchen, whether used fresh, roasted whole or added to soups, casseroles, sauces and Mediterranean dishes.
Being a softneck garlic, it is also well suited to drying and storing after harvest.
Why We Chose It
Therador combines attractive white bulbs, excellent culinary quality and reliable garden performance. A very useful variety where good storage is important.
Growing Garlic Messidrome
Choose a sunny position in fertile, well-drained soil. Garlic dislikes waterlogged ground, particularly during winter.
Separate the bulbs into individual cloves immediately before planting. Plant the cloves approximately 5 cm deep, pointed end upwards, spacing them around 15 cm apart and allowing approximately 30 cm between rows.
Autumn planting gives the cloves time to establish roots before winter. The natural period of cold weather is important for good bulb development.
Keep plants weed-free and water when necessary during dry spring weather. Reduce watering as the bulbs approach maturity.
Harvest during summer as the foliage begins to yellow. Lift the bulbs carefully and dry thoroughly in a warm, airy position before storing.
Mr Middleton Verdict
A first-rate white softneck garlic – productive, flavoursome and an excellent choice for storing for use well beyond harvest.
