Description

Narcissus ‘Dellan’ is a strong-growing, dependable daffodil ideally suited to bulk planting where a substantial and colourful spring display is required.

Producing classic yellow daffodil flowers on sturdy stems, Dellan is an excellent variety for planting in large borders, lawns, banks, orchards and informal naturalised areas. It is particularly effective when planted generously, where hundreds of flowers can combine to transform a large area in spring.

Daffodils are among the most dependable of all spring bulbs. Once established, Dellan can be left in the ground to flower year after year, with clumps gradually increasing when growing conditions are favourable.

Why We Chose It

We selected Dellan for our bulk range because it combines good garden performance, strong colour and excellent value, making it ideal where larger quantities are needed.

Mr Middleton Verdict

A very useful, reliable daffodil for large-scale planting. Plant generously and leave it to establish – the display should improve as the bulbs mature.

Garden Designer’s Tip

Use Dellan to create broad ribbons of spring colour through lawns or beneath deciduous trees. Plant in irregular drifts rather than small individual groups for a much more impressive landscape effect.

· Planting period: September–December

· Flowering: Spring

· Flower colour: Golden yellow

· Position: Full sun or partial shade

· Soil: Most reasonably well-drained garden soils

· Planting depth: Approximately 10–15cm

· Spacing: Approximately 10–15cm apart

· Naturalising: Excellent

· Hardiness: Fully hardy

Plant bulbs with the pointed end upwards. Water after planting if conditions are particularly dry.

For stronger growth and flowering, apply Mr Middleton Seaweed Feed when planting and again as growth develops in early spring.

After flowering, allow the foliage to die back naturally before cutting or mowing. The leaves replenish the bulb and help ensure another strong display the following spring.

Ideal For

Large gardens, lawns, orchards, woodland gardens, estates, schools, hotels, golf courses, public landscapes and large-scale spring planting.

Irish grown by Mr Middleton – Irish owned Irish gardening specialists since 1974.
