Description

For gardeners looking to establish large areas of dependable spring colour, Narcissus ‘Karenza’ is an excellent bulk planting choice.

Strong-growing and suited to the Irish climate, Karenza can be used in both formal and informal planting schemes. Plant it generously through large borders, lawns, orchards, banks or beneath deciduous trees, where it can be allowed to establish and naturalise.

Like all good naturalising narcissi, the real reward comes over time. Once established and left largely undisturbed, the bulbs can develop into increasingly substantial groups.

Why We Chose It

Karenza earns its place in our bulk collection because of its combination of vigour, reliability and excellent value when planting substantial areas.

Mr Middleton Verdict

A reliable workhorse for large-scale daffodil planting. Don't be afraid to plant it in big numbers – that's when Karenza really earns its place in the garden.

Garden Designer’s Tip

Plant large groups around the edges of lawns and allow smaller groups to extend into the grass. This softens the transition between borders and lawn and gives a far more natural appearance.

Planting & Growing

· Planting period: September–December

· Flowering: Spring

· Flower colour: Golden yellow

· Position: Full sun or partial shade

· Soil: Most reasonably well-drained garden soils

· Planting depth: Approximately 10–15cm

· Spacing: Approximately 10–15cm apart

· Naturalising: Excellent

· Hardiness: Fully hardy

Plant bulbs with the pointed end upwards. Water after planting if conditions are particularly dry.

For large-scale naturalising in grass, lift sections of turf, plant beneath and replace the turf, or use a bulb planter for individual bulbs.

For stronger growth and flowering, apply Mr Middleton Seaweed Feed when planting and again as growth develops in early spring.

After flowering, allow foliage to die down naturally before removing it or mowing naturalised areas.Ideal For

Naturalising, lawns, banks, orchards, woodland edges, large borders, estates, schools and commercial landscapes.

Irish grown by Mr Middleton – Irish owned Irish gardening specialists since 1974.
