Description

Narcissus ‘Tamara’ is a strong and attractive daffodil selected for its garden performance and its ability to create an impressive display when planted in quantity.

Perfect for gardeners and landscapers who want dependable spring colour without the cost of buying bulbs in small packs, our bulk Tamara bulbs are particularly suitable for large borders, lawns, banks, orchards and naturalised planting.

Daffodils are long-lived bulbs and, when planted in suitable conditions and allowed to establish undisturbed, Tamara can provide colour for many springs to come.

Why We Chose It

Tamara combines the characteristics we want from a bulk narcissus: good vigour, strong flowering, reliability and excellent landscape potential.

Mr Middleton Verdict

A great variety for planting in substantial groups. Give Tamara enough room to establish and it will reward you with a strong spring display year after year.

Garden Designer’s Tip

Use Tamara in large, irregular drifts that follow the natural contours of the garden. For a particularly attractive effect, allow groups to flow from a border into adjoining grass, helping the planting look as though it has established naturally over many years.

Planting & Growing

· Planting period: September–December

· Flowering: Spring

· Flower colour: Golden yellow

· Position: Full sun or partial shade

· Soil: Most reasonably well-drained garden soils

· Planting depth: Approximately 10–15cm

· Spacing: Approximately 10–15cm apart

· Naturalising: Excellent

· Hardiness: Fully hardy

Plant bulbs with the pointed end upwards. Water after planting if conditions are particularly dry.

For large-scale naturalising in grass, lift sections of turf, plant beneath and replace the turf, or use a bulb planter for individual bulbs.

For stronger growth and flowering, apply Mr Middleton Seaweed Feed when planting and again as growth develops in early spring.

After flowering, faded flowers can be removed, but leave the foliage untouched until it turns yellow and dies back naturally. This is particularly important with naturalised bulbs, as the foliage feeds the bulb for the following year's flowers.

Ideal For

Large borders, lawns, naturalised areas, orchards, woodland margins, banks, estates, schools, hotels, golf courses and commercial landscape planting.

Irish grown by Mr Middleton – Irish owned Irish gardening specialists since 1974.
