Description

Narcissus ‘Hollands Chase’ is a distinctive choice for gardeners who want something beyond the traditional yellow daffodil when planting on a larger scale.

Strong-growing and impressive in generous groups, it brings variety and character to spring borders and landscape schemes while retaining all the advantages that make narcissi such useful garden plants – hardiness, reliability and the ability to return year after year.

For maximum impact, plant Hollands Chase in broad groups rather than isolated pockets. The larger the planting, the more impressive the spring effect.

Why We Chose It

We selected Hollands Chase to give our bulk range greater diversity. It is ideal for customers who want a named garden variety with greater individuality while still benefiting from bulk quantities.

Mr Middleton Verdict

A variety for gardeners who want their bulk planting to look deliberately chosen rather than simply functional. Plant generously and allow it time to establish.

Garden Designer’s Tip

Rather than filling an entire area with one variety, use Hollands Chase to create a substantial feature drift surrounded by simpler narcissi. This makes the more distinctive variety a focal point.

Planting & Growin

  • Planting: September–December

  • Flowering: Spring

  • Position: Full sun or partial shade

  • Soil: Fertile, reasonably well-drained soil

  • Planting depth: 10–15cm

  • Spacing: 10–15cm

  • Hardiness: Fully hardy

Plant bulbs with the pointed end upwards.

For stronger growth and flowering, apply Mr Middleton Seaweed Feed when planting and again as growth develops in early spring.

Double narcissi can carry substantial flowers, so a reasonably sheltered position can help keep the blooms looking their best during severe spring weather.

Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.

Ideal For

Large borders, feature beds, naturalistic planting, substantial garden schemes, estates and professional landscaping.

Irish grown by Mr Middleton – Irish owned Irish gardening specialists since 1974.
