Rich Deep Pink • Beautifully Fragrant • Magnificent Double Flowers
Paeonia ‘Jacorma’ is a magnificent herbaceous peony, producing large, luxurious fully double, deep rose-pink flowers in early summer. The densely packed petals create wonderfully sumptuous blooms, while their rich colouring makes ‘Jacorma’ a striking feature in any perennial border.
Adding to its appeal is its beautiful fragrance. When the flowers open in late spring and early summer, their perfume and generous size make this a peony to enjoy both in the garden and indoors.
The blooms are carried above a substantial clump of attractive deep green foliage. As the plant matures, the display becomes increasingly impressive, with an established plant capable of producing numerous flowering stems each year.
Peonies are among the most enduring herbaceous perennials you can plant. Given the right position and left relatively undisturbed, ‘Jacorma’ can remain in the garden for many years, becoming better and more floriferous as it establishes.
It is also an excellent cut flower. Cut the stems when the buds are beginning to soften and show colour, and allow them to open indoors for a spectacular early-summer arrangement.
Why We Chose It
‘Jacorma’ has everything we look for in a traditional herbaceous peony: large double flowers, rich colour, fragrance and excellent garden performance.
The deep rose-pink blooms have a wonderfully romantic appearance without becoming lost in a mixed border. It is equally impressive planted as a single specimen or grouped with other peonies to create a spectacular early-summer display.
And, unlike many plants that give their best for only a few years, a well-planted peony can reward you for decades.
Where to Plant
Choose a position in full sun or light partial shade. Good light encourages strong growth and the best flowering.
Peonies appreciate a fertile soil that retains some moisture during the growing season but is also well drained. Avoid positions that remain wet or waterlogged during winter.
They are excellent for:
- Herbaceous and mixed borders
- Cottage gardens
- Traditional perennial planting
- Cutting gardens
- Planting alongside roses
- Large perennial borders
- Fragrant gardens
How to Plant Your Peony
One of the secrets to success with herbaceous peonies is not planting them too deeply.
Prepare the soil thoroughly and incorporate well-rotted compost or organic matter. Position the root so that the developing buds or ‘eyes’ are only around 2–3 cm below the finished soil surface.
Planting too deeply is one of the most common reasons that otherwise healthy peonies produce plenty of leaves but few flowers.
Water thoroughly after planting and keep newly planted peonies watered during prolonged dry periods in their first growing season.

Aftercare
Peonies are relatively easy plants once established. Water during extended periods of dry weather and apply a general-purpose fertiliser around the plant in spring as growth begins.
A mulch of well-rotted compost can be applied around the plant in spring, but do not cover the crown, as gradually burying the crown beneath layers of mulch can reduce flowering.
The large double blooms can become heavy after rain, so plants in exposed positions may benefit from discreet support before the flower stems reach their full height.
After flowering, leave the foliage intact throughout the summer. It continues to feed the root system and helps build up the plant for the following year's display. Cut the old foliage down to ground level once it dies back in autumn.
A Peony Gets Better with Age
Don't be disappointed if a newly planted peony doesn't produce its full display immediately. Peonies can take a little time to settle into a new position.
Once established, however, they are remarkably long-lived. Choose the planting position carefully, plant at the correct depth and avoid unnecessary disturbance. Your plant should become larger and more impressive with each passing season.
Garden Designer’s Tip
The rich pink of ‘Jacorma’ is particularly effective alongside white and cream flowers, deep purples and soft blues.
Try it with alliums, hardy geraniums, nepeta, salvia and early flowering roses. For a particularly impressive display, combine ‘Jacorma’ with white-flowered peonies – the contrast between rich rose-pink and pure white is superb.
For cutting, plant several peonies together so you can enjoy plenty of flowers indoors without taking too much from the garden display.
