Description

For a traditional spring display on a grand scale, our Yellow Trumpet Mixed Daffodils are an outstanding choice.

This specially selected mixture brings together strong-growing yellow trumpet narcissi to create a wonderfully natural display. The subtle variations between individual flowers give the planting a much more relaxed appearance than using a single uniform variety, making this mixture particularly effective for naturalising through grass, orchards, banks and woodland edges.

Plant them generously and, once established, they can remain in position for years, gradually developing into substantial colonies of spring colour.

Why We Chose It

Nothing says spring quite like a mass of traditional yellow daffodils. This mixture is selected for customers who want the classic golden daffodil effect combined with excellent value for large planting projects.

Mr Middleton Verdict

The choice for creating a real field of daffodils. If you have a lawn, orchard, bank or large open area that needs spring colour, plant these by the hundred and let nature do the rest.

Garden Designer’s Tip

For a genuinely natural appearance, take handfuls of bulbs and gently cast them across the ground. Plant each bulb approximately where it lands. Concentrate some areas more heavily than others – nature rarely plants in perfectly even spacing.

Planting & Growing

· Planting period: September–December

· Flowering: Spring

· Flower colour: Golden yellow

· Position: Full sun or partial shade

· Soil: Most reasonably well-drained garden soils

· Planting depth: Approximately 10–15cm

· Spacing: Approximately 10–15cm apart

· Naturalising: Excellent

· Hardiness: Fully hardy

Plant bulbs with the pointed end upwards. Water after planting if conditions are particularly dry.

For large-scale naturalising in grass, lift sections of turf, plant beneath and replace the turf, or use a bulb planter for individual bulbs.

For stronger growth and flowering, apply Mr Middleton Seaweed Feed when planting and again as growth develops in early spring.

If growing in grass, resist the temptation to mow immediately after flowering. Leave the foliage until it has naturally yellowed and died down so that the bulbs can build up their reserves for the following year

Ideal For

Wildflower areas, lawns, orchards, roadside banks, woodland, estates, large gardens, hotels, schools, golf courses and commercial landscaping.
